About the Journal

Focus and Scope

ELT in Focus is an academic journal published by English education programme, Universitas Singaperbangsa Karawang undergraduate school in Karawang,West Java,  Indonesia. This is a biannual journal published in January and June. ELT in Focus is a freely accessible, full text, peer reviewed journal allowing for the dissemination of ELT in these main areas. This journal is intended for an international audience of elementary and secondary teachers, researchers, teacher educators, scholars, parents and instructors at tertiary levels who are concerned with the teaching and learning of English in varying contexts (such as families, classrooms, schools, colleges, universities, communities, countries, etc.)

Publication Frequency

This journal is published twice in a year, in June and December. Each issue consists of five articles.

Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement

ELT in Focus published by the Department of English Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, University of Singaperbangsa Karawng.  In order to provide our readers with a journal of highest quality, it is guided by the principles of Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement. The above mentioned principles are binding to all parties participating in the publication of the journal.

Author Responsibilities

-       Authors must ensure that they have written entirely original works,

-       If authors use previously published materials, they must cite them appropriately

-       Authors must ensure that the manuscript has not been issued elsewhere,

-       Authors must present all sources used while working on their manuscripts

-       Authors must notify the editors of journal , shall they be aware of any conflicts of interest,

Chief Editor Responsibilities

-       Chief editors must evaluate and make a decision  which of the articles submitted to the journal will be published,

-       Chief editors must ensure that all the  information related to submitted manuscripts are kept as confidential,

-       Chief editors must notify the journal, shall they be aware of any conflicts of interest,

-       Chief editor guarantee that each prospective manuscript is reviewed for its academic content,

Reviewer Responsibilities

-       Reviewers must ensure that all the information related to submitted manuscripts are kept as confidential,

-       Reviewers must notify the journal, shall they be aware of any conflicts of interest,

-       Reviewers must report to the Editor-in-Chief shall they be aware of copyright infringement and plagiarism on the authors side,

-       Reviewers must evaluate the submitted works objectively as well as present clearly their opinions on the works in a clear way.

Please download the CTA here and send a signed and scanned CTA to the editor.

Fees

Rp 300,000 per article.

Each published article will receive one printed version.

Author Guidelines

a)    The author(s) should register first and login to the system before submitting the manuscript.

b)   It is typed in Microsoft Word with the font being used is Time New Roman size 12.

c)    The number of words should be 4,000 to 7,000, excluding appendices.

d)   British or American spelling can be used, but it must be consistent throughout the article.

e)    The article should be completed with the name of author, email, and institution.

f)    Research-based articles will be prioritised; viewpoint articles, however, will also be considered for publication.

g)   For a research-based article, the outline consists of 7 sections without number: Abstract (in English and Indonesian) + key words, Introduction, Method(s), Findings, Discussion, Conclusion, and References.

h)   Abstract should not exceed 300 words. 

i)     Introduction section at least talks about 3 points: background or context, literature review, and research objective(s). These subsections don’t have to be titled. 

j)     Quotation and references should follows APA. The following are some examples of APA system of referencing:
