ANALISIS KEMAMPUAN PEMECAHAN MASALAH MATEMATIS SISWA SMP PADA MATERI PERSAMAAN DAN PERTIDAKSAMAAN LINEAR SATU VARIABEL (PtSLV)
Abstrak
Students have difficulty solving problem solving problems because they do not have mathematical problem solving skills. The purpose of this study was to examine the ability of grade VII junior high school students to solve mathematical problems and solve equations and linear inequalities of one variable (PtSLV). 39 students from class VII E of SMP Negeri 5 West Karawang were the research subjects. This research was conducted with a qualitative approach and used a descriptive approach. The instrument consisted of a test of description questions that tested mathematical problem solving ability as many as five questions, as well as guidelines for interviews with individuals who have the ability to understand the problem, plan the solution, perform the solution, recheck the answer results, and draw conclusions. In this study, the test scores of mathematical problem solving ability were classified into high, medium, and low categories. The results of data analysis show that mathematical students fall into three categories: students with high problem solving ability, students with medium problem solving ability, and students with low problem solving ability. Students with low problem solving ability can only write down what they know from the given problem. Writing steps and making a solution plan are usually not favored by students. Students are still wrong at the recheck stage, and most do not do it.
