Peer Review Process

  1. Registration needs to be completed by the author(s) before the submission of their manuscript.
  2. Any submitted paper will be reviewed by reviewers.
  3. Manuscripts submitted to Jurnal Politikom Indonesiana will undergo a selection and assessment process by the Editorial Teams to ensure their accordance with the writing guideline focus, scope, and similarity check of the manuscripts. Manuscripts will be examined to ensure that they have met the writing guideline, focus, and scope with good academic quality. If they do not meet the conditions, the author will be given the opportunity to revise their manuscript according to the given criteria. However, there is also the possibility that the manuscript will be directly rejected.
  4. A decision is made by the Editor Team in initial review with some of these decision types:
    • A rejected to peer-review process: here, the manuscript would be sent back to the author(s) with attached comments; 
    • A revision to the peer-review process: here, the manuscript is sent back to the author(s) with attached comments. The comments would direct the author(s) on what they need to before they re-upload to the system; 
    • Accepted to peer-review process: here, the manuscript would be sent to the section editor for reviewers' selection.
  5. The manuscripts will be reviewed using the double blind peer review method in which case neither authors nor reviewers know each other’s identities.
  6. Reviewer’s decision. The reviewers will provide the following recommendations:
    • Accepted; means that the manuscript is acceptable for publication
    • Accepted with minor revisions; means that the manuscript is acceptable for publication once it is revised in response to the reviewers’ concerns
    • Accepted with major revisions; means that substantive inadequacies in the manuscript, such as data analysis, the main theory used, and rewriting of paragraphs, need to be revised
    • Rejected; means that the manuscript is not acceptable for publication or the given reviews relate to very basic issue
  7. Revision Stage.Once the manuscript has been received with notations of minor or major revisions, it will be returned to the author with a review summary form. For manuscripts accepted with major revisions, authors are allotted 4 weeks to revise. Whereas for manuscripts accepted with minor revisions, 2 week is allotted for revision. When returning the revised manuscript, the author is required to fill in and attach the review summary form.  
  8. Final decision.At this stage, the manuscript will be re-eval_uated by the Board of Editors to ensure that the author has revised in response to the reviewers’ concerns. In this final decision, the manuscript may still be rejected if the author did not seriously conduct the revisions necessary. If the manuscript is rejected, the author(s) would be notified that the manuscript failed to be considered for publication.
  9. Once the layout is completed, the letter of acceptance is sent to the author(s) alongside the manuscript version. The Editorial Secretary will process the manuscript for online publication on the website.
